I am using Video Studio 9
I am not able to capture video from the DVD/DVD-VR.
I am getting the following error message
Failure to open DVD. Report ID:0x800408ff(2303)
Does anyone know why this is?
Failed to open DVD

Make sure the DVD is "closed" or "finalized". This is done by the DVD-camera or DVD-recorder.
Try copying the files/folders to your hard disk, and importing from there.
If that doesn't work, take a look at This Post.
After copying the files/folders to your hard drive, try changing the filenames from .VOB to .MPG. Then, you may be able to open them with Video Studio. If you have one long program/movie that's split into multiple VOB files, you may want to use a file-joining utility* to make one big VOB file, before renaming it.
VOB 2 MPG (FREE!!!) may be able to convert your DVD to one continuous MPEG file. If it works with your particular DVD, it will extract the MPEG data without re-coding it. (I've tried it two times. Once it worked, and it was very fast. The other time it failed completely.)
SUPER (FREE!!!) should be able to convert your VOB files to MPG, although it will decode/re-code them, which will degrade the audio/video to some extent. Again, joining the VOB files together first may be helpful.
You can find lots of "DVD to MPEG" or "VOB to MPEG" programs on the Net, but most of them will re-code the MPEG.
* You don't really need a utility to join the files. You can do it with DOS or from the Windows command line. There are instructions on the VideoReDo website.
