Some simple things are often overlooked...

I get the same, until I insert a Disk into the drive. May not be the case with you, but sometimes it happens..;)

Do you have any other burning applications installed? If so, do you have Packet writing utilities? Nero, and Roxio have packet writing utilities, that tend to hi-jack burners, and not release them so other programs can access them.

I think with Nero you can just disable the packet writing, and Roxio's need to be uninstalled.

Other way around, Ron. InCD can only be uninstalled, whereas the Roxio program can be internally disabled. And of course there are other packet-writing software packages which do the same thing.

FYI, packet-writing software allows you to drag and drop files you want to burn to one of your CD/DVD burners, and leave the files sitting there until there are enough to fill a disc. In other words, the burner is 'reserved' for the packet-writing software's use and cannot be accessed by other burning software as this might upset the accumulation of files by the packet-writing software...
