Autoplay failing for non-administrator accounts

Post by mdocs »

If I insert a DVD as a non-administrator account on XP (either a restricted user or a power user), WinDVD opens, but the movie does not play. Any attempts at playing the movie fail. Nothing happens, not even an error. If I then reboot with the disc in and manually load up WinDVD the movie plays fine.

If I log into an administrator account everything works fine.

I downloaded a demo of PowerDVD to see if the problem persisted with that software, but PowerDVD works successfully.

Has anyone seen this behavior and know how to fix it?

I have a somewhat similar problem.

Using both VS8 and VS11+. VS11 starts normally. VS8 requires I use "run as" whether I am logged on as administrator or as a user with administrative rights.
