VS 10 trial won't run all of a sudden - HELP!

Post by johnnyivan »

Agh! I can;t believe this. Been waiting around half the day for my 21 month old son to take his nap so I can edit, and what happens? VS 100 won't start anymore!

I'm 5 days int a trial period. This morning it started going sluggishly so I switched off the Broadband connection which worked before, no joy. So I looked at the 'processes' in task manager and switched off a couple of those. Some where 'services' i think. No difference.

Now, the app won't even start. When i restart my PC I automatically get this message:

"The Security information is invalid or has been modified. This program will be terminated."

I don't know if that refers to VS 10 or not. But it won't start. And, when I 'repaired' VS 100 it made no difference. I tried to reinstall it and I got this message:

"Please insert disk 1 that contains the file layout bin". I don't have a disk. By the way, this morning I connected a new external hard-drive and copied the 'My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0' folder onto it instead.

I tried a system restore but still got the insulting looking ""The Security information is invalid or has been modified. This program will be terminated." message as soon as Windows XP started.

Can anyone help? I haven't tried to hack this trial or anything.
Thanks,
John

Ah, found another post here which told how to get rid of the "security information" error message. Now I'm trying to re-install.

Ah ha! Think it's working again. I think that other post about disabling 'uvl.pl' or whatever from the start-up menu did the trick.

Could you be more specific

I am having the same issue except on v11. Could you be more specific as to what you did to fix your problem. I'm hoping that it will fix mine. Thanks, Kathy

Hiya, look here:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... t=msconfig

you have to switch off the uvpl.exe file.

Start > run > (type msconfig) > 'startup' tab > look down the list for uvpl.exe > and un-tick the box beside it. Close the window and restart.

Let me know if you have any probs Kathy.

Thanks John, but it didn't fix my issue. I will be running out of my trial period and will have to just decide whether to purchase and take a chance or forget it. Thanks again, Kathy

Oh heck, I hope someone else can help you. Did you restart after doing the above?

A couple of questions to help workshop the issue.

Did you install or uninstall something between the time UVS was installed and when the problems started occuring?

Any possible system changes like updates to windows or anti virus software?

Problem starting Videostudio 11

Post by kyhawthorne »

Yes, I did install AnyDVD the same day that the Videostudio stopped working. I was thinking that maybe what I should do is go back to my pc's original specs and re-install everything. I think that is a pain but that way I could see if the trial version will work. I will be quickly running out of time on my trial; I think I have 3 days left. Thanks for your help. I will try any and all advice. Kathy
