Yes, v11 apparently has a bug that prevents the capture of analog video.

See http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=25120 for more info.

Welcome to the forums,

There is a bug with A-D (anlog-digital) capturing. In fact there is a problem with capturing analog period. Corel in it's infinite (or maybe that should be finite) wisdom replaced the Direct Show capture plug-in with their own IVI plug-in. It will not allow capturing analog video. Several of us have tested this using the same method as you, and it fails.

I have reported this some time ago to them, to specific contacts within Corel. They agreed that it is a bug and will be issuing a fix to it. When is anyone's guess. Until then, at least you, like several of us dedicated Ulead user's have an earlier version that you can use to capture. I however use a free DV capture utility called WinDV. All you need is a firewire port, and DV source. It captures only to DV.

I'll have a chat with the PM about this again tomorrow and get some idea of when they are going to work on this.

I'm pretty sure this free utility will work to capture from your dv cam.
Then just insert the dv.avi file into the timline of VS.
WinDV is the name of the program.

Or you could have left both VS11 and VS9 on the computer. You could capture in VS9, and then simply open the captured files in VS11 for editing... But certainly WinDV works well for the same purpose.

Problem with Capturing

Post by jessiecat »

We used to be able to capture video but now everytime we try it tells us "Capture Module Initialization failed" and "Capture manager Intialization failed" and then the Capture Video Icon won't appear. Is this related to analog problem you mentioned - is there a setting on the camera? I repaired the program, made changes to the settings, etc. Any ideas?

Since you don't even tell us which version of Video Studio you are using or what you are trying to capture from, using what equipment, it is difficult to offer any ideas at all!
