I have made a widescreen movie(cinema view) on a DV tape with an Panasonic NV-EX3, when I try to capture this tape on 4:3 OR 16:9,doesn't matter if I try avi or mpg, it looks like it is put agian in widescreen mode, I get my widescreen movie put in another widescreen capture...so it looks now like my movie is squeezed now.
When I play my movie you can see on the preview that it has a black bar on top and below the movie, but when I look at the captured outcome it shows a black bar on top, then a grey bar, then my squeezed movie, then my grey bar and then a black bar.
Has anybody any idea what to do or how to fix this?
Thanks in advance

Use 4:3 unless the camera is anamorphic
I use an anamorphic lens on my Canon GL2 quite often. I capture using the regular DV aspect ratio (720x480), so the resulting AVI file appears stretched vertically. Then, when creating the project in MSP, I specify the aspect ratio of 16:9 in the Project Settings=>General tab, and MSP makes the anamorphic video look correct by squishing it vertically.
Unless you have an anamorphic lens, I think you always want to use 4:3 when capturing AND in the Project Settings. Most cameras simulate a widescreen by simply placing the "letterbox" matte on top of normal video. The basic way to tell is to videotape a perfect circle in "cinema view" mode and look at the resulting footage. If it appears to be a circle, the camera is not anamorphic (use 4:3 everywhere), while if it appears to be stretched vertically, then you want 16:9 aspect ratio in the Project Settings.
