Hi Everyone
Have recently used my Canon as a "pass thru" to transfer and capture VHS analogue to my PC. After a few teething probs (and much helpful advice from this forum) the capture and eventual burning of the DVD worked like a dream.
Unfortunately I now have problems using the Camcorder as a conventional Camcorder. When I try to use it in Camera mode the display is black and it looks like the lens cap is on when it is not!
I tried to record but when you playback that is also dark. (Playback of previously recorded video is fine)
I followed the advice in the manual to the letter. I activated the AV-DV converter in the menu and cancelled it after use. I have also meticulously checked all the Camera settings and they are consistent with the camera defaults in the manual.
The only "odd" thing I did during capture was change the brightness on the PC monitor cos the image was very dark. I just wonder whether this has now blinded the camcorder and it has now invoked some sort of filter as a self defence-even tho this seems crazy.
As usual I would be grateful for any help on this one.(I have posted to Canon but they take an age to respond)
