Can I keep the original sound and insert a new video clip?

Post by Harryu »

I am a novice to use UVS8. I want to continue to play a video clips sound, while I insert a part of an other clip, without insert the other clips sound. If it is possible, how do I do it? Is there any recipe book answering questions like "I want to do this and that. How?" Thank you for help!

You have serveral options on how to save a sound clip and then to put video over the sound. I will give you two examples and the rest of the viewers can give you a whole lot more. Example One: Save your sound clip as a sound file, by dropping it into the time line and then going to the "Share tab" and creating a sound file. Then you can put in your video clips into the time line and then drop your sound file into the audio time line. Example Two: Assuming your sound clip is also on a video clip, drop it into the the time line second video overlay and insert the video clips you want to use onto the main video time line. You can make the second overlay containing your sound clip transparant by playing around with the second overlay motion and filter properties. Those are just a few of the many options you have :D

Here is one more: insert the first video into the first video track of the timeline. Right-click on it, and select "Split Audio" -- this will leave you with the video in the first video track, and the audio in the audio track. Now insert the second video into the second video track. Edit/trim/apply effects as desired.

This looks great. I have used Pinnacle studio 9 to edit an one hour video. This is an other way to do it. I look forward to try your options. Thanks!
