Error [93006:1:0] "Drive not ready" when burning D

Post by Vips.Desai »

I have Ulead Videostudio 8 and after the stage its finalizing the VOB instead of writing to the DVD I get the following error message:

Drive not ready

[93006:1:0]

My DVD drive is NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. I have also tried the patches for the burn engine but still not working.

The firmware version for the drive is: 5.1.2535.0

Can anyone help ?

The version of ULead Videostudio i am using is 8.0.1.

I have also applied the following updates:

Version 8.01 – (Build Number: 8.01, Release Date: 2004/09/06 Download Here

CD/DVD Burning Engine Update - (Build Number: 3.6.17.246, Release Date: 2004/07/27) Download Here

I would first try burning a DVD with different software, eliminate there is something wrong with your burner.

I also have a NEC DVD+RW and have tried everything I could possibly think of and still cannot get a good burn using VS8. It locks up, doesn't burn at all or a small part and can't even get it to erase. I then tried Nero and Intervideo WinDVD creator to burn with no problems at all.

If you are running Windows XP, try disabling the built-in CD burning support provided by Roxio -- see this article for more information about this feature and how to disable it.

Also, as Kimk said, try outputting to an ISO file instead, and then burn that with a different program, such as Nero or the free DVD Decrypter. This should let you rule out media incompatibilities.

I have an NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. I updated the firmware to version 10GE about one year ago. (Download file R59801.EXE from the DELL website.) It works fine for +R media. I works OK for +RW media the first time - but if I erase and try to reburn I usually get the same error message about Drive Not Ready.

I just checked Dell.com and verified that 10GE is the latest and greatest.

If you bought this burner elsewhere, there is an update version 1.93 available at NEC.com.

Thanks for your replies.

I have verified my burner is ok by burning an ISO file from VS8 and burn using Roxio to my DVD. This works fine so the problem lies with VS8.

My firmware version is 10GE so its uptodate.

I have a WA but I will have a go at disabling the default CD recording software provided by Windows XP.

All of the rest of my software burns CDs and DVDs fine. Ulead has never worked and they could not give a straight answer or a reason short of "take all of you other software out.".

I just bought Premier Elements and it burned a DVD on the first try. Also things that did not work in Ulead worked perfectly.
