WinDVD with DVD-R

Looks like a good site here and about the only good thing I found from COREL to date, as they won't answer my question until I buy the WinDVD 8 Platinum. I downloaded the trial and it won't work on my system (yes I have entered all the information in my profile).

It appears that maybe it just won't work with DVD-R. There we have COREL in Canada with the software and the CBC Store selling all their DVDs in DVD-R and the two are not compatible.

My question to COREL was quite complex:

"Will WinDVD work with DVD-R"?

They told me they can not answer the question as I downloaded the trial version. They sent me here. I did a search for the topics and found nothing other than a reference to try PowerDVD?

Any comments?
