Create Disk not re-rendering
OK, here is the scenario (in VS 11):
1. I edit my project, "share" & "create disk" selecting my "project" file.
2. I view my DVD and find one small title correction.
3. I edit my project again, and correct the title.
4. I "share" and "create disk" again - the program remembers most of the settings in the DVD menu routine.
5. I burn the DVD again (thinking that my project editing will be reflected in the final product)
...wrong!
What do I need to do to tell the "share - create disk" routine to "re - render" my project???

I think you may have to Save your project first, after making the changes, before going to the Share > Create Disk phase again.

After finishing your editing, you should be choosing Share > Create Video File > DVD, and not Share > Create Disk. This will render your project to a DVD compatible mpeg-2. Then you save your project, and open a new project. Don't worry about a name for it -- the objective is just to clear the timeline.
Now you go to Share > Create Disk. The burning module opens, and you use the Add Media button to insert your new mpeg-2. Do NOT use your project file, as you have been doing.
Make sure that 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the second of the three icons in the bottom left of screen (Project Settings). Build your menu and burn. No conversion of any video should take place in the burning process apart from conversion of the menu to video.
And if you want to rectify something wrong in your original project, you simply re-open the original project, and proceed as above.

Thanks, that works, but again, I need to rebuild my menu. Share > Create Disk (add project file) works fine for the first "go around". There must be an .avi file sitting out there somewhere which is keeping the routine from re-rendering the project file. This would seem (to me) to be classified as a bug - but perhaps there's something I'm not understanding here.

What you want to do is save the, title creation sequence so you don;t have to re-build it again. Is that correct?wgcampbell wrote:Thanks, that works, but again, I need to rebuild my menu. Maybe I misunderstood. I had thought you meant a title which you added during the editing phase. But did you in fact mean a 'title' in one of the menus?
If so, then the only way I know to save the project, including the menu you have built is this. It's a bit klutzy but it works. Once you have built the menus and either previewed them or gone to the final burning page, you don't actually burn anything. Instead, you close the burning module. You will see a progress bar as the project is saved. But unfortunately, that is not the file you are after and that particular save only works as long as you don't close Video Studio. Instead, you just go back to File > Save and save the original project. You can now simply go back to Share > Create Disk and the finished menu will reappear. You can edit it further at this stage.
If, in the situation you have found yourself in, where you come back later (having closed Video Studio in the meantime), you simply open your project and go to Share > Create Disk, and again your menu should be restored for further editing.
(By the way, one of the reasons for my confusion is that, in the burning module, the term 'title' refers to an individual video you are burning. That is why I first thought of 'title' being a title/label in the editing phase.

I am having this same problem but saving the project in the main screen after closing out the burning screen is not working.
I type in titles beneath the thumbnails in the sub-menu's and the hot-key to go to the Chapter Menu from the main menu, and the names revert back to saying "Chapter001" etc later. Odd thing is they only retain the same number of characters of what was typed before. i.e. if I typed in "Video1", it is 6 characters, so next time I load up my project it reads "Chapte" instead of Video1 or Chapter001.
How do I fix this? Quite frustrating.

Regarding the saving issue, I think that what you are asking is that after creating a DVD Menu, you later decide to restart VideoStudio, open up your project and expect to find your DVD Menus as you left them.
There is a misleading message when you exit the DVD Authoring (Create Disc) stage where a message is displayed "Saving....."
I have yet to find out what it is saving but.....
BEFORE entering the create disc (Authoring) stage save the project giving it a meaningful name.
AFTER leaving the create disc (Authoring) stage IGNORE the message that it is saving something and now manually save the project.
Next time you open that project and go to create disc you will find your DVD Menus intact.
Regarding private emails - sorry but this is not possible.

Thanks I will try that method when I get home today. Thinking I have tried it before though and it keeps reverting.
When I typed my last post I thought you all worked for Corel. Since then have read in posts that you are unaffiliated. So no prob on the emailing staff policy. I may still email it directly to Corel though if I keep having the problem. It is an annoying enough problem to me that I may ditch the product. I am picky like that
