What can you do with HD edits ?

Post by pyvo »

It still doesn't seem to me to be the right the time to move up to High Definition - but I'm itching to start. Thanks for help with a few questions below:

Assuming you can capture and edit footage from High Definition (1080i) format camcorders in HD using UMSP8.0 (I am still on 7.2), can it then be sent back to a HD cam using iLink / firewire / IEEE1394 in full HD ? Would this be true with all makes of HD camcorders or just some ?

If not then what are the formats that can be used to view the edited footage on a FullHD TV ?

Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs writers are virtually non-existant in France so cannot do this at present - still waiting - btw why aren't they easily accessible yet ?

Multimedia Hard Disk Drives often have high-end composite outputs but no HDMI.
Apart from transporting the PC from one room to the lounge and connecting it to TV via DVI socket (not a 'true' solution), how else can you benefit from HD edits ?

Thanks for any advice.

Last question - do any of Ulead's DVD creation softwares enable switchable audio tracks (one stereo + one 5.1 or 1 English and 1 French) and switchable subtitles (on/off/multi-language) as per professional DVDs ?
