VS 11 Crashes when I try a preview of my work
When using VS 11Plus, I have a time line with various clips...but my first video clip is a Cool 3d Pro Studio clip, when I start at the beginning of the time line to watch the entire project, the video freezes but I hear the audio, then the Windows generated crash box appears and prompts me to either cancel or send report...when I click cancel, the program completely shuts down..., this has been happening so much it is frustrating. This crash will even occur when I am not at the beginning of the timeline...not sure what is happening here.
When I go to the share button I can create a video file and watch it full length...all works well there...but this is not a good substitue for watching using preview in the time line...please help me.
Dave J.

Hi David,
Without knowing exactly what the properties of the clips in the timeline are and also what your system specs are it is hard to say exactly why this is happening.
However, if you look at what VS has to do to preview, it may give you some things to do. The preview is literally slapping the whole thing together on the fly so if you have large uncompressed files or exotic files in the timeline this gets difficult and uses enormous resources.
Good housekeeping can often minimise these problems. Try turning off all unnecessary programs and services on the computer, anything that will use up resources whether it is running or not, while you are wroking with video.
Make sure you defrag regularly.

Are you saying this only happens with the C3D clip in your timeline, or does it also happen without it?
Sounds like you have a corrupt file, whether it be the C3D clip or another. As the others have asked, please post the clip(s) and project properties.

OK, to clarify some things...I am trying to use the "project" mode, not the clip mode...I want to view how this looks with audio...when I do this on the 3D clip, the screen freezes, but the sound continues...when this happens the windows crash appears.
As to the properties...listed below...I have manually typed them here...
File Format: COOL 3D file
File Size: 141KB
Frame Rate: 29.970 frames/sec
duration: 4.671 seconds
Attributes: 24 bits, 320x240
Total Frames: 140 frame(s)

And does your project crash if you take the C3D object out?
What are your project properties?
What are the properties of the other clips?

It looks like you are saving your animation as a Cool 3D file and trying to insert that into your VS project when, in fact, you need to render your animation into a video file and insert that into VS.

Well, you may be able to, but I've never put a .C3D file into my VS timeline. I have always rendered the 3D animation to a video file first.
(Note: I don't have C3D Production Studio on this PC, only C3D 3.0, but the procedure is similar.) In C3D go to File > Create Animation Files > Video File. Set your options to match your VS project properties. It will probably take a while, even for your 4 second project, but it should work flawlessly.

Looks like that indeed did fix it...I guess what amazes me is that this should not have to be done this way...I am using a Ulead product and it should integrate flawlessly. Also, when I got to the Edit tab in VS 11 I can import C3D files...I can clearly see them and import them...which leads me to believe that this is something Ulead expects can also be done without having to first render it which can take a long time.

At least you have fixed your project.
