cannot start the capture graph

Post by philA »

I have MovieFactory(for Toshiba) 5.51.0018.0 SE001
Running on "Vista"

When I connect my Cannon ZR800 (NTSC) vid cam, MF Will allow me to control and play the video, but I get and error when I try to capture.

"cannot start the capture graph"

I have tried to download the patch http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp_50.htm
but the ftp site does not work.
I also tried to install the service pack 1, but the exe file when executed can not find Movie Factory on my system. When I actually have MF open , and execute, it says "Movie Factory is open and running and must be close to install"

any help would be great! Phil

I think the service packs don't work on the "free" SE versions. :( It requires Movie Factory 5 Plus.

You'll need to upgrade to MF6 if you want to use MF on Vista. (But, take the free trial for a spin before you send in your money.)
NOTEs:

- Windows Vista and the Windows logo are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries

- This Update Pack is for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus (BOX, ESD, UPG, and activated TBYB) version.

- This Update Pack cannot be uninstalled.

- Since Video for Windows (VFW) is not supported in Vista, VFW codecs such as Indeo, Cinepak are not supported in Vista. The video content files provided by DVD MovieFactory will now be encoded using .WMV instead of Indeo codecs.

- WDM devices are not supported by Vista. Thus, not supported by DVD MovieFactory.

- WinDVD 7, Photo Explorer 8.6 are not supported.
