Problem with MP3: MP3 sound files gives only cracks

Post by meirenwi »

I am using DVDMF 4 and MSP 7 to make my Video-DVD's.

In MSP 7 al was working fine until I had installed DVDMF 4.
From that moment on all MP3 audio files will give only cracks as wel in DVDMF as in MSP as in the audio editor.
In other soundprograms the MP3 files will give a good sound (f.i. MS mediaplayer)

I have uninstalled DVDMF and MSP, and installed it again, but the problem remains.
I gues some file is being overwritten during the first installation of DVDMF 4, and this will not be corrected by uninstalling.

What can be the problem???

Try using wav/wma/wmv audio.

This is nothing to do with MSP. The problem lies in the fact that there is no standard for MP3 audio tracks. MP3 is a subset of MPEG-1 video, with the video stripped off. There is no normalised way of doing this at each manufacturer's codec does it in a different manner. The fact that it can be played in a wide range of devices is not material. When trying to import it into MSP, it is also trying to import a video which is not there! In some cases, it may work and in others not.

The correct way of dealing with this problem is to convert the MP3 into WAV format before bringing it into the timeline. I use Audacity to do this.

If it was working before you installed DMF4, then it is probably a shared file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems (depending on language).

If you uninstall all Ulead software, you can clean this folder and then install just MSP7. Check to see if all is well. Save the contents of the common Ulead folder, install DMF4, and if it breaks you'll be able to see which files were overwritten.

You do install the fixes for your products, right? Like update pack 2 for DMF4:
- Problem in importing MP3 files when creating music discs.
