rendering to wmv, sharing video on line - vs11+ issues?

Post by Ilene »

I encountered an interesting problem today while redering a VS11+ project to wmv, and likewise the same project as an mpg to wmv.

I use Neptune and often did the same protocol in VS9 without issue.

I selected "share", "share video online" and selected "best" for wmv quality. The video started to render but after completing only a few percent of the job I got two errors. The first error was "ulead encountered a "catastrophic" error ( pretty scary!), I then tried again and received an error message stating that my "virtual memory" was set too low. I don't even know how to change my virtual memory. THis was going direct from project file to wmv. I then tried to go from the mpg file of the same project to wmv and encountered the same error.

I tried to see if I could go from mpg to wmv in VS9 using the same file and it worked fine.... ( i first had to re-boot, I think the catasrophic error prevented VS9 from opening - but after re-booting it worked fine in VS9)

I often have the need to load videos to neptune via the share on line method. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem in VS11+. ALso - if I were to increase my virtual memory, how does one go about that.

thanks.

From memory it's Start/Control Panel/System/ Performance/advance and you can go from there...If I remember there's an option to allow windows to control the swap file.

You might need to defrag to get the most out of a swap file. Defrag anyway :)

rendering to wmv

isn't it weird that VS9 had no trouble rendering the same file, on the same computer? Why would one version have a problem with virtual memory and the other not?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
