TRIAL version-unable to import from DVD
The button to click on for "import" is greyed out - I can't import the DVD- wan to add music to the background. Please help!! Thanks!
I dunno what's causing that, but I'm pretty sure that's not a trial-version limitation...
I assume this is not a commercial (copy protected) DVD.
If the DVD was made on a stand-alone burner (DVD recorder) or with a direct-to-DVD camera, make sure it is "finalized" or "closed" first. (This is done from the DVD-recorder or from the camera.)
A lot of people are having trouble with DVD Import... Some DVDs just seem to cause the Corel/Ulead programs trouble... Search the forum for "import", and you should find more suggestions.
If you can't get it working, you can find "DVD-to-MPEG" programs on the net, but most of them will re-code (re-compress) the MPEG... Something you'd like to avoid if possible.
VOB 2 MPG is FREE, and it will not re-code the MPEG. I've tried it twice. One time it worked, and one time it failed.
SUPER is a universal conversion program, and it's also FREE. It can convert the VOB files to standard MPEG-2. However it has two (or more) weaknesses. It will recode the MPEG data, and it won't combine the VOB files, so you will end-up with your movie(s)/program(s) split-up into 2 or 3 MPEG files.
Or, if you want to try-out the competition, one person here has reported good results importing DVDs with Sony Vegas. (I have not tried it myself.)
