I have MovieFactory 3 SE and Win TV 2000. I record home movies and stuff off Win TV onto my hard drive and then make DVDs of them. Eveything worked great until about a month ago I ended up recording over four hours of static. I deleted the huge video file, but ever since then I cant burn DVDs. Movie Factory will get all the way to end where it actually burns the disc and then I get this message:
Data buffer underrun has occured. The computer may be busy doing other tasks or may not have enough memory to sustain the specified recording speed.
Error: DVDR-DAO-SPTI-2A-02-05-21-02

Before a month ago I had the burn speed set to max and I could do other things on the computer will i burned a DVD, sure everthing ran slower, but i never got an error message. Now I still get the error message even though I set the burn speed at the lowest setting (4x) and the computer is not doing any other tasks. I'm not sure what's going on and any help would be very appreciated.
Thank-you
Kevin
I cant burn DVDs because a Data buffer underrun keeps occuri
It might be a simple case of a dead burner...
There could be a program running in the background... It could be an anti-virus program or it could be an actual virus or spyware.
Make sure DMA is turned-on for your hard drive(s) and your burner. (The details for doing this depend on your Windows version.)
There should be a check-box on Movie Factory's burn-screen that says Enable Buffer Underrun Protection. But, I'm not 100% sure if your version of movie factory has that feature. The drive has to support buffer underrun protection too. (This is not the best solution, because the laser gets switched-off when the buffer runs dry, then back-on again when the buffer is full. This can give you an imperfect burn.)
If none of the software tweeks help (my suggestions and others), you can get a new burner for about $30 (assuming you have a desktop system) from places like NewEgg.com. So, even if that doesn't solve the problem, you're only out $30, and you've got an extra burner...
P.S. It's generally a BAD IDEA to post your e-mail address on the Internet. There are automated programs that scan the Net for e-mail addresses, and then you get added to every SPAM list in the world!
At this point, you can't change or delete your user-name, and I can't do it either... (A fourm administrator can probably do it, but not a moderator.)
