Videostudio 11 System requirements

Post by IFollowU »

Hi,

I note UVS 11 stipulates XP or Vista. I also note windows 2000 is not mentioned, as it is with UVS 10. Failing to find anything in searches, I conclude from all of the above that UVS 11 should not be installed on a Windows 2000 machine. I also assume that were I to attempt that, Im probably on my own and Ill get all that I deserve !

However. Lets assume I wanted to upgrade to UVS 11 without purchasing either a new PC or a new Windows OS and all the hours grief that will entail, especially since everything else on my PC is just absolutely fine.

Will this be a total disaster and it will never work correctly, might crash, corrupt things and generally be a mess ?

Or, will it probably work fine, but I need to understand that it isnt supported in this manner and its to be discouraged because ULEAD understandably dont want to get into supporting what is now a fairly dated (although still fairly popular) OS ?

Im just trying to get a feel for what Im up for before attmepting the trial, and I am tempted . . .

Can anyone offer me any pragmatic advice beyond 'its not listed as supported so dont try it?" please ?

many thanks for any responses ...

I'd stick with an earlier version.

Unless there is an avalanche of responses saying they already have VS11 working happily on Windows 2000, why don't you be the guinea pig and install it and see? After all, it will not over-write any earlier version you have -- though some of the shared files could potentially be a problem. If it does not work, then it is a relatively simple matter to uninstall it, and then reinstall the earlier version if there are indeed problems with shared files.

Unless Ulead is different from most other software it will error out as you try the install. The first thing the installer should do is check the OS. I still run Windows 2000 and for grins tried to install the demo of Photoshop CS3. No go right from the start. I also tried the demo of Sony Vegas version 8 and it also errored out saying my OS was not supported.

No, it's not the real me in the photo. Here in the states there is a series of cheesy TV commercials featuring "smiling Bob". Bob is happy and his wife is very very happy because of a mail order product which I will not get into here, but you may get the drift. It's a commercial so bad that it's good.

Nothing wrong with a drink now and then, make mine bourbon please

Wondering...

I was wondering if "IFollowU" ever tried to install VideoStudio 11+ on a Windows 2000 SP4 platform? I have issues with WXP SP2 and Vista. So it would be a big help to me if it would/could be made to work on this older platform.

No you can't. It simply will not begin the install process once it detects Windows 2000.

Thank you
