Google Video / YouTube File Format?

Post by KeithC »

I would appreciate knowing which video output format I should use for Google Video / YouTube. I know what files types Google and YouTube accept, but VS11Plus offers several that I'm unsure of, like PSP and Zune Mpeg4's. WMV's at 320 pixels wide offer small file size, but their quality is a little rough.

Please suggest what you works for you when outputting a video intended for Google Video, keeping in mind that I'm learning how to use VS11.

Thank you,
Keith

You could try the "Search" function.
I did and your post came up first so I went to the second one and got this link:

That listed link for Youtube output worked great for me.

I also tried the Mpeg4 IPOD output..seemed okay, but settled on the recommended template for Youtube as listed in your link above.

You can use any format (that are accepted by Youtube) you are comfortable with as long as it is 100mb or lower in size for it to be uploaded. It's going to convert it to .FLV anyways.

Or if the rumour is right shortly it'll all be converted to H.264 supplied by Apple

Will that help with the heavy pixelation on fast-moving objects?

I doubt it from the way most people seem to film and prepare their productions, :) but it'll help make it easier to upload with the new range of hdd/solid state HD cams which already record in this format.

Properly preapred, it should make it slightly better.

Sorry, English tongue in cheek humour.

From what I've seen, most youtube movies are filmed very poorly, then no attempt at a decent compression is made. Youtube then make the flash file and quality has gone out of the window.

For those serious movie makers, who spend time getting all the components right along the way, then H.264 will make a difference.
