I created a dvd music video using Michael Jacksons 'Earthsong' as the soundtrack. It has been suggested by several to upload it to YouTube. After creating the DVD I deleted it from my hard drive (space saving). Can I somehow upload it from the DVD? Do I copy it from the DVD back onto my hard drive, then upload? All I can read on the disk is two files of Audio_TS (which appears to be empty) and Video_TS which has 3 same named Video_TS files, 2 VTS_01_0 files, and one VTS_01_1 file. Six files in total. I would also like to present it to the ulead forum, presume same way as youtube.

I won't start out by pointing out the copyright issues, that's your decision.
You can pull it in straight from the DVD or your hard drive if you copy it there. The video files are in the VIDEO_TS directory. UVS 10 & 11 give you the option of dropping it into the timeline directly, or into the library using the following file -> insert media file into library (or timeline) -> insert dvd/dvd-vr. At that point you will select the dvd drive or click import dvd folder to pull it off your hard drive.
I do not remember the process prior to 10, but I do remember that you could import just the vob file directly, after all it is just an mpeg 2 file anyway.

The best way of getting the original video back on your computer is to do as TubaDad has already suggested, and use Insert DVD/DVD-VR. That command exists in all versions of VS I have used, and that goes back to VS7 (and probably earlier).
VS 10 was in fact the *only* version of VS in which you could directly insert a .vob file into the timeline. Unfortunately, that has now been dropped again with VS11...
As TubaDad has already said, .vob file are in essence only mpeg-2 files with another extension. If all else fails, you can simply copy the vob files to hard disk and change the extension. But I am afraid it is not as simple as that -- it never is, is it?
-- especially when it comes to a music video. Depending on how big the DVD is and how many songs are on it, any single .vob cannot be (because of the international rules governing the stucture of DVDs) larger than 1 GB. So your particular song could be only a small part of a larger .vob. Thus you would need to edit to get rid of all the unecessary bits. Easy enough.
But there is also the possibility that your song might be broken between two .vob files. On a DVD, the 1 GB breaks take no notice of where in the video the break is made because the nature of the DVD is that it will play continuously anyway and the break is simply not noticeable. However, if you extract two bits of a song from two different .vobs, it will be difficult to join them together without a noticeable click or blip where the join occurs.

Also not geting into any copyright issues here. Once you get the video back into your computer I have created a couple of posts about suggested settings for YouTube and also VEOH.
Senior Forum Member Black Lab has created a VideoStudio channel on VEOH and since getting the settings right I find the quality on VEOH better than You Tube - plus it has a full screen playback mode.
