Importing MSP7 dvp files into MSP8
Hi, I've just upgraded from MSP7 to MSP8 & am looking forward to using the extra opportunities that it offers me. However, I am unable to open any of my MSP7 dvp project files in MSP8. Is there a way of doing this? - I assume so, else I'm guessing that the file suffix would have been changed with the new version. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. David
There are some features in MSP 7 which cannot be translated to MSP 8. In particular, titles are not compatible. It has always been recommended on this and other forums to finish all MSP 7 projects in MSP 7 and start new ones in MSP 8.

Any ideas how the following happens?
Thanks for the reply, but alas that wasn't proving to be the case. However my subsequent investigations have now found the cause (though I'd appreciate an explanation if anyone has one)...
I was indeed trying to open them as projects, but I just got the message 'File reading error' with the number 20379:1:107. This happened with both backups of the project that I really wanted to do more work on. As both files still opened fine in Video Editor 7 (which was left on my PC when MSP8 was installed), I started there. I tried removing the CG Infinity created intro (as I see it is no longer bundled with MSP8), but that made no difference. Then I remembered that when I did a first render on this project, one of the clips on the mpg had corrupted sound. I figured that it was an issue that occurred during rendering & nothing to do with the original clip (as it sounds fine played in video editor 7), but I thought I'd try deleting it & saving the dvp file again & hey presto! it now opens in MSP8!
So... does anyone have any idea what might have been the problem with the corrupted clip? (I have used clips from the same original interview / avi file, elsewhere in the project - so why the issue with just this one?).
Many thanks.

MSP7 to MSP8
Hi Eddylik,
The issue for me was a corrupted avi file, which when removed from the project on MSP7, allowed the dvp file to be opened on MSP8. Have you tried rendering it in MSP7 & see if it plays OK all the way through? That was how I found the audio problem on that one file.
Good luck!
