Photoimpact uses nearly 100% of CPU, even when idle

Post by johnmeyer »

I upgraded from XL to Photoimpact 10. Other applications suddenly seemed sluggish, so I opened the Windows task manager and found that "Iedit.exe," which is the main Photoimpact task, is using nearly 95% of the CPU, even when Photoimpact is just sitting there.

I downloaded and installed the patch to upgrade to 10.0.0.1, but this didn't change anything. I am running XP Pro SP1.

Does anyone else see this behavior?

I got advice over at Stephanies' site, and decided to uninstall and re-install. I tried a "repair" install first, but that didn't help. I then did a complete un-install and then a re-install, and things are working correctly again.

Phooey. I posted too soon. The problem is back, even after the re-install.

Does it only happen when you have an object highligted and the selection marquee is active? Try disabling the marquee (shift-f12) and see if the problem goes away.

Hope that helps.
