Split a clip into two

Post by donb5 »

In Movie Factory 6 plus, How can I split a movie clip into two clips?

When I split the clip in the edit section, it is still one clip on the main menu. I have a clip that contains two sections and would like to split them so as to have two separate menu items.

Welcome to the forums,

Go to Edit Room. Make sure your clip is selected (highlighted), then move the jog bar, or play the clip until you get to the position where you want to split it. Then above the timeline, look for an icon that looks like a pair of scissors (hover your mouse over it, and you should get a tooltip that says "split clip". Click on it, and now your clip has been split.

When I split the clip in the edit section, it is still one clip on the main menu. I have a clip that contains two sections and would like to split them so as to have two separate menu items.
You would have to export the clips first, then load them in as 2 separate video files.
I prefer to use the "Muti-trim Module" and split the video using the "F3" for the In Points and "F4" for the Out Points. This will produce a thumbnail for each clip that is split.
Then while still in the Multi-trim module highlight one of the clips, click on the "Left Arrow" Icon <-- (left side of the timeline), Select "Fast Export" and save the clip as a separate video file. Perform this for each clip that you have split to produce separate video files of the clips you want, then. Start a new project and load these separate clips. There are other methods one can use, I find this the fastest and most convenient.
