I've tried to get a boxed copy of WINDVD 8 Gold installed on two different PC's running Win Vista Home premium, both with 2gb ram.
In both cases, the demoshield.exe file starts and I get a menu that gives me a choice to install Windvd .
I choose to install, then the instashield wizard starts, gives a message about preparing to install and I see a green bar progessing like the installation is starting. Then the WindDVD Installshield window minimizes to my task bar and nothing else happens, and clicking on the task bar button does nothing.
To kill the installshield and demoshield I have to go into task manager and kill them
I've tried running as an adminstrator.
I've installed the directx 9 runtime files for July.
This is happening on two different PC's that I own (a gateway and an ACER), so there's got to be a problem in the installer somewhere.
You've now got my money! Please tell me specifically how to get this installed on Win Vista.
Funny thing is, I can download the Windvd 8 demo from your website, and it installs and works OK! So I'm not missing any files, I don't believe.
Is there a registration code on my boxed copy somewhere that I can use to register the version I've downloaded??
PLEASE HELP ME GET WINDVD 8 installed

Try the following:
- Launch Windows Explorer and go to tools\folder option\advance setting to check "show hidden files and folders".
- Clean up temp files from\Start menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Disk Cleanup.
- Go to "C:\Program Files\InterVideo"
- Delete the folder for "DVD8".
- Delete the following folders: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InterVideo" "C:\Program file\InterVideo\Common\Bin"
- Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
- Delete the folders "{20471B27-D702-4FE8-8DEC-0702CC8C0A85}"
- Go to Start-->Run and type "regedit"
- Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo"
- Delete the folder "DVD8"
- Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\InterVideo"
- Delete the folder "DVD8"
- Close "Regedit"
- Restart Windows then reinstall WinDVD 8 *WinDVD 8 requires for you to install two updates from Microsoft (DirectX:Feb26 build and Visual C++ 2005 Redisributable Package).
Please get the WinDVD 8 Vista compatibility patch thru this link http://download.intervideo.com/windvd8/ ... _patch.exe
Note: when applying the patch, make sure to disable all running programs including your firewall and anti-spyware. Please be advised to clean your temporary files found under "C:\Documents and Settings\[folder name of the account]\Local Settings\Temp", select all the files inside "Temp" then hold "Shift" key before hitting on "delete" button on your keyboard. After applying the patch, restart your computer. Launch the program then check if the problem will still occur.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME GET WINDVD 8 installed
Uninstalled, rebooted, install the directx and virtual C stuff adn followed all the steps, and still no go. Hangs after the installshield wizard starts.
Who can I talk to at Intervideo about getting this to work or getting my money back?
The WinDVD compatibility patch you mentioned does no good, says I can't install it until WinDVD has been installed. How does that patch help me get it installed?
