I was creating a DVD using the smart scene template in VS11+. I wanted to hide some of the objects. When I hid the object, and previewed the menu, a yellow circle with a cross hatch appeared in the place of the hidden object. I thought it might go away when I burned the to dvd but it remained. What's the point of hiding the object if you can't get rid of it. I even tried changing the transparency but it didn't help.
I then decided to keep the object and when I burned the dvd, it still displayed the yellow circle with the cross hatch, in addition to the text. This is kind of annoying. Any suggestions?
Also - somewhere I've seen the thread but can't find it again....
can I import DVD menu templates from VS9 to 11+. Obviously there were no "smart scene" menu's in VS9 but there were some other nice ones that would still be nice to use as "thumbnail" menus.
thanks.

Which DVD menu were you using that displays the circle and cross hatch - possibly you are looking at a highlight image.
Although you can import the menus from earlier versions into VS11+ as far as I can tell they are already in there. The following link will show you how to import DVD menus from earlier versions. I have not updated it to include Version 11 but is is easy enough to work out.

dvd menu question
It was the first smart scene menu - the red one.
I don't see it when I create the menu - Only when I go to preview it and then again on the burn.
Try to create menu using this first smart scene option. Delete the thumbnail titile ( or hide it) - then go to preview, I think you will see what I mean...
thanks.

By the way I don't think all the menu's from VS9 have made it to 11+ - these are the ones I need. I skipped over 10+ because I couldn't get it to rip audio properly....do you think the VS9 menu's will work if I copy/paste them into 11+

Yes the yellow circle and cross is a highlight image.
Despite being able to TEMPORARILY hide them on the design screen, they are still a part of the menu template and WILL still appear in the completed DVD.
This is not a fault in the software it is the design of the template - deliberately created that way by the author of that particular template. For further information please view this link:

To import your VideoStudio 9 menu templates in VideoStudio 11+ is very easy.
1. Using Windows Explorer go to
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template\4_3
You will see listed below this folders containing your 4.3 menus. Copy all folders then paste it to
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Content\Menu Template\4x3
Repeat this process for your 16.9 menus
From: C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template\16_9
To: C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Content\Menu Template\16x9
They will now appear in your drop down list of available menu styles

dvd smart scene menu issue
wow - that is really annoying! The yellow cross hatch looks so out of place on the finsihed DVD. I guess I will not choose those menu's. Hopefully this is just an issue with the smart scene menus. this was never a problem in VS9 - as I often deleted the thumbnail title, especially when I created DVDs that just have one thumbnail ( most often the case with my work...)
I will try to copy the folders from VS9 to 11+ per your suggestion. thanks for your help.

dvd menu - highlight images
Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately I don't have photo impact, so I won't be modifying any of the templates for now...
