"Failed to save"

Post by princesschez »

Hi there,

I have been using this program for over a year, and until now have had no major dramas. I have been working on a slideshow of phtos from an overseas trip, and finally finished 2 days ago. After waiting about 5 hours for the slideshow to be created, it started to burn, so I thought I was home free. WRONG! It gave me the "Failed to Burn" error at 100%... the disc didn't work :(

I then tried again twice with new discs in case it was a problem with the DVD I used, but alas I met with the exact same fate both times. Next I tried saving to file first (or whatever the option is in the burn section) and I got a fail to save message. I changed the options back to how they were before, but I now cannot save at all, or even attempt to burn. If I click Burn, it asks me to save first, but then tells me it has failed to save.

Does anyone have any ideas what may have happened? I have also tried installing the patch on the Ulead website and rebooting, bot it hasnt changed a thing. This program is awesome, and I no longer have my install file, so I really hope there is something simple I have missed that will help solve my problem.

Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

Since your last successful burn and your first failed one have you

a. Installed any new software or hardware
b. Removed any
c. Had a computer crash - such as a mains electricity failure?

Have you tried "System Restore" to a time before the first failed burn?

Hmmm.....

a. most likely, but I wouldn't know off the top of my head what.
b. I don't think so
c. The computer is a laptop, so no.

I haven't done a "System Restore" before. If I do, do I lose all changes made since then, including all new files and everything? If so, how do I know how far back it goes to know what to back up?
