.mov files stuck on first frame

Post by tbmag »

I've seen a couple of older posts regarding this, without any solutions.

I'm currently using VideoStudio 10 Plus and I downloaded the SP1 for it. I have a source file that was taken with a digital camera (Kodak). When I load in a video and highlight it, I am able to play the clip fine. After I copy/drag it into the project area and play the project, it is stuck on the first frame, for the whole length of the video.

Here are the file properties for the source file:

File:
File format: QuickTime Movie Files
Movie size: 640 x 480
Duration: 22.505 seconds
Track counts: 1 video track, 1 sound track

Video Track 1
Compression: MPEG-4
Attributes: 24 bits, 640 x 480
Total frames: 675 frames
Frame rate: 29.993 frames/sec
Duration: 22.505 seconds
Start at: 0.000 seconds

Sound Track 1
Compressions: uLaw 2:1
Attributes: 16.000 KHz, 16 bits, Mono
Total samples: 360,086 samples
Duration: 22.505 seconds
Start at: 0.000 seconds

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kodak MOV files still not working?

Post by kjlynn »

I'm evaluating VideoStudio 11+, and am also experiencing this problem. Kodak .MOV (v550) files play correctly in the clip preview, but in the project they do not. I've tried it with several .MOV files, all with the same results.

I've tried replacing the uvqt.vio file with the one at the link above, and this had no effect.

Any help appreciated.

Search first! Though the title refers to sound problems, it's part of the same issue.

I had problems with a mov file I downloaded from the Internet. What I did was I inserted it into the timeline and created a WMV file through the "share" tab. It worked fine when using the WMV version.

I did search first, which is how I found this thread. The audio problem is not the same issue.

Conversion to AVI or some other format (using MP4Cam2AVI works best) is a solution, but I'd prefer not to have to convert the video at all.

Happily, I've found that if I apply both of the patches to VideoStudio 11 plus, the problem seems to be resolved. So if you're using one of the Kodak V Series cameras, be sure to apply both the UVS11_Patch_Eng.exe and the UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack.exe patches.
