VS11+ Trial Crashes when making DVD files

Post by Eric137 »

Using: VS11+ TRIAL
WinXP 2GHz PC

I'm this close >> << to buying VS11+, but if I can't make a DVD file with the trial, I'm going to look elsewhere.

I fixed my "preview" problem by installing DirectX9c (thanks for the info in another topic in this forum!) :D

My issue now is that I'm trying to create the DVD files. After about 2:30 minutes of crunching numbers, VS11+ crashes. The dialog says nothing much other than the application caused a shutdown.

I tried saving the files to a different path and different drive, but no luck. I even install VS11+ Trial on a different PC and got the same problems (it won't make the DVD files.

What are your clip properties (right click and post them here)? What are the project properties (File > Project Properties)? Are you trying to burn straight from your project in the timeline? If so, have a look at the Suggested Workflow.

To verify that the VS11+ was working correctly, I generated a simple video of two images. The Create Disc operation worked fine :D

I suspected that my issue was a bad video file (it worked find in the editor, but failed when performing the Create Disc feature?). To verify this, I created a Disc of each video. No problems.

After reading your work flow, I reviewed my project and found it was a mix of .wmv, mov, avi files. I converted everything to .avi and the problem seemed to disappear. :D

I guess it would be more user friendly to have VS11 say, "problem between video #5 and #6" as opposed to just crashing. Just my $0.02.

BTW: I'm still a 90% sure I'll be purchasing VS11+.
Thanks.

By following the Suggested Workflow you avoid many of the curve balls that video editing (and VS in particular) can throw at you.

I stick with AVIs and the Suggested Workflow and I have very, very few problems.
