I am a bit confused by the relationship between buttons and objects and playlists.
The dvd workshop manual states
"Images, videos, text, or placeholders are classified as menu objects. These objects don¡¦t have links and only serve as decorations on your menu."
My first question is - If text doesnt have links, why does the text tab have a playlist option and an invisible button checkbox?
I have successfully created a dvd menu along the lines of the tutorial "life on mars" and it looks really cool. In that process we drag an object onto the button. What can be dragged onto a button and what relationship does the dragged object have to the button?
Thanks

Text on your DVD Menu can be plain text - perhaps you wish to write a short intro about the program, add credits etc.
You can if you wish drag a Title or a chapter - even another menu page onto the text. The text then ceases to be plain text but becomes a link.
Play lists determine what happens when you click a link.
Take a simple button as an example.
A simple play list would be "Play Life on Mars Episode 1 and then return to this menu"
A more complex play list could be
"Play this short video (A purpose built transition from Menu to Video)"
"Play Life on Mars Episode 1"
"Go to the Main Menu (Root) of the DVD"
Here is another example of a play list.
You have created a Music DVD and have perhaps 70-80 songs on the DVD.
You can have a button to play everything - in sequence.
Another button that plays a single track.
Another button where you have created a play list of tracks e.g.
"Play all the Beatles songs"
and another
"Play all the ABBA songs"
To create those "Play all the Beatles songs", or the button "Play all the ABBA songs" you create a playlist on that button by dragging those songs or videos onto the button.

Thanks. I can handle the concept of an actual playlist. Its just what is considered a link. The manual seems to suggest that only buttons can be links. It implies that text can not. but you have suggested that text can become a link. So my question sort of what what are all the things that can become links? Its obviously not just buttons.
