Daylight Savings Bug

Post by Trevor Andrew »

Hi
The daylight saving bug strikes again.

Started VS 8 to find all my library links broken.

Strange thing when I checked my system time I found it had not changed from GMT to BST.

The automatic adjust clock was checked, this I unchecked, then re-booted my system.

All appears to be ok now except I am one hour out.

I have recently re-installed VS 8 and am certain I installed the daylight patch, although I was running without the main patch due to oos problems.

How can you establish which patches you have used???????????

I intend to install all patches again, then change the time, will it work???????

Can't offer you any real help Trevor except to confirm I DID apply the patch - my PC adjusted the clock - and now every one of my links are broken - AGAIN

Hah! I don't even get that far, on my system, the bloody patch fails to find UVS. It's installed. Really...

I managed to get the links working on the old time.

(I was working without the main patch for oos reasons.)

I applied the main patch then the daylight one.

Changed the time to the correct hour.

Now all links work.

Its a mystery to me :?: :?: :?:

The hype in the news items of this webpage dont seem to acknowledge what a crap piece of software this has been for some people!

This is the guy i liaised with last time!

Yeah Hi,

I'm having some major problems with this stupid daylight savings bug!

I was almost finished a project, went in to open it tonight and all my library links were gone  Daylight savings time changed here in Sydney, Australia a couple of days ago. Everytime I try to re-link the program crashes. It's a mess.

I have tried downloading the patch but it doesn't recognise that I have VS 8 installed.....aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggg!

Is it because I am running VS 8 SE DVD? Is there a patch for this version?

Please help. I am desperate now because I MUST have this project finished in 2 days!

Hi

I know this is going to make you groan but ULead advised me to un-install and then re-install VS8, then download all the patches. Not a great solution but if you've only 2 days to finish the project then spending 20 minutes reloading might be time well spent (and you won't be any worse off - I hope).

Regards.

I have never downloaded the patches (any) , and I haven't run into this problem yet. Sounds like I better never download it. What doe it supposed to do anyway

Maybe because daylight savings time does not start in the USA until this coming Sunday morning?

Daylight bug fix

And when it does come? what? what does it affect ? and if I just never download the bug, what will happen?

It's not a bug you download - but a patch to prevent the bug which is in UVS from affecting you. Come the weekend when the clock on your computer adjusts for daylight savings all the links between your library pane thumbnails and their associated video files will be broken and you will have to relink all of them again manually - including the ones supplied by Ulead with the programme.

I would suggest you download the daylight savings patch NOW and install it and hope it prevents the bug from affecting you at the weekend.

Thanks Brian for that.

I think you need the main patch as well.
Don't know why.

go to this page

http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm

VideoStudio 8 Daylight Savings Time Patch (Release Date: 2004/12/10)

and

VideoStudio 8 Update Pack

There are two main update patches one for the SE version and one for the full/download/upgrade version

select the version you require

good luck

Daylight savings patch

Post by steveandbelinda »

I went ahead and downloaded the patch, now do I need to download the update. I notice that now that I downloaded and installed the patch, that when I go to the "about videostudio" button , it no longer shows the product serial number. It did before I downloaded and installed the patch. The version that I have says 8.00.0000
The update pack says it is either for 8.01, or it will make it 8.01

I have had this response back from Ulead today:

Dear David,

This is Ekso Hsu from Ulead HQ Customer Care Dept. Tommy had been to CeBIT Show trips and that's why he couldn't reply the further emails from you. He will be in office next week and get back to you on next Monday.

We apologize for the delay and inconveniences.

Best Regards,
