A number of VideoStudio 11+ issues...

Post by Spectre427 »

Hi, I have a retail copy of Videostudio 11+ and have had a number of issues with it. So far I have been very dissatisfied with it - seems like a poorly put together version.

1) There is no help file (ie: says "cannot find help file"
2) There are no templates in the Videostudio Movie Wizard under HOMEMOVIE OR SLIDESHOW
3) There are only 3 menu templates. Screenshots show much more than this.
4) When you go to 'create disc', it will not allow you to preview anything (the window where a DVD remote is seen). Upon clicking play, a loading bar flickers and the play button greys out (as if it were getting ready to play). However, nothing happens. It just returns to its normal state.

I hope someone on this forum can help me with at least one problem.

To verify that it wasn't just my product affected, I downloaded the TBYB Trial from the ulead website. I had all the same problems.

Thanks,

Spectre

The downloaded TBYB version would not have a Help file and would have far fewer templates than the full version, all to save on download time/size. Where and when did you purchase your copy? Version 11 has been out for several months. I'm not sure where you could get a copy of v10.

EDIT: I see the subject of your post says v11+, yet you mention v10+. Which is it?

Tell us what you are trying to preview: What are the clip properties (right click on a clip)? What are the project properties (File > Project Properties)? How did you acquire the clips? From a camcorder (what type?), downloaded, etc.?

Sorry, my mistake. It is the latest version: Videostudio 11+ NOT 10+.

As for previewing:

The thing is that it doesn't even preview the menu. When I go to preview the disc I am creating, nothing happens. I had no problems doing this in VS 10+.

Clip properties are: WMV, 720x480, 654kbps (One of the sample videos)

Project properties are: PAL (MPEG), 720x576, 8000kbps MAX (These are the default settings).

I have tried making a disc with all sorts of clips: camcorder clips, downloaded clips, VS sample clips. But still doesn't seem to work...

Cheers for your response mate.

Now I'm confused. One of the sample videos that came with v11 is a wmv file?

Problems 1 -- 3: if you have the full boxed version version, these should have been in the main install, or at the very least on CD2. If you have the download version, they should be in the second file, which is the Extra Content file.

As Black Lab has already asked, we need to know which exact version you have.

Re Question 4, if you are still using XP, then go to the Microsoft site and search for the latest update patch for DirectX 9.0c -- it is dated June 2007. I think that will solve the problem of the preview.

I have version 11.0.0157.0 Plus.

Installing DirectX 9.0c did not resolve the previewing issue. The exact same thing happens.

I will aim to resolve this issue first before I worry about lost templates, etc.

My apologies.

It turns out that the section Ulead requires for the preview to work is in the optional components of DirectX 9.0c. Just installing the main update will not enable it.

Relieved that it is now working...:D

Could you be more specific? It could help other users in the future.
