This is the one feature I really want to test with my Canon HV20 since I don't want to buy a Blu Ray burner at this time.
Thanks!
Does DVDMF 6 Trial allow you to burn HD-DVD to regular DVDs?
Yes, the trial is fully functional.
You do need the videos to be in the PS (Program Stream) format for MF6+ to insert them. So if you have used another program to capture the videos from the HV20 (capturing in TS (transport stream format), then you need to convert them to PS format first, otherwise you will get a file mismatch error.
MF5+ has the capability of converting the TS to PS when inserting the videos. Don't know why they left this feature out of MF6+.
Or, you can capture your video directly using MF6+. MF6+ will capture in the PS format, after you capture you can burn directly to a dvd (in the hd-dvd format).
If you decide to purchase the program I suggest buying the retail or download version. I wouldn't suggest activating the TBYB version.

Thanks for the reply. I installed the trial version and imported a couple of minutes of HD video off of the HV20. I created the ISO using HD-DVD 15G and then burned onto a DVD+R. When I view the ISO using the VLC player it plays smoothly. When I play the DVD+R on my Toshiba HD-A2, it stutters.
Any ideas on how to get HD files to play smoothly on the HD-A2?

Does the A2 have a speed setting for the hd-dvd reader? If it does maybe change that to high speed. One of my HD media players has this setting.
Otherwise it's usually a compatibility issue of the media.
Seems like the computers drive can read the media but the A2 is having trouble. I would try a dvd-r disk.
I was having the same problems with Memorex DL disks on my Sony Burner. My sony burner simply doesn't like the dvd+r dl dvd's. I then burnt the memorex dl dvd's in a maddog dvd burner & they work great on the hd player.
So first I would suspect incompatible media with the A2 before getting technical.
Does VLC play the media or just goes directly to playing back the files. Haven't checked VLC latest versions, I read somewhere's it can also capture from the hd-cams.

No speed setting on the HD-A2.
But switching to DVD-R did the trick. Thanks a lot!
The quality of the recording looks great! I'll have to try burning the ISO with a program that will let me set the book type to DVD-ROM to see if I can use all of the DVD+R media I got or I'll have to buy some more DVD-R's.

You need to set Book Type on DVD+R/DL to "Physical Disc Type". Most burners default to DVD-ROM.Gone2Maui wrote:No speed setting on the HD-A2.
