Currently there are two similar threads in

2) MovieFactory MF6+ will not install
Corel are currently investigating these issues and I have been requested to establish from affected forum members the following two points.
Could any users who are affected please post a reply in this thread
regarding the following points:
1) Is there any other Ulead and/or Intervideo software installed on the same machine, if so please list them out.
2) Have those user ever installed any Ulead or Intervideo software before on the affected machine? If so please list them out.
(If for any reason you have reformatted the hard drive after having this issue then this will not apply).
Please note that this is NOT a discussion thread and so please continue to use the original threads mentioned above for further discussion/debate about this issue. This thread is only intended to gather DATA to assist the software developers investigate this issue.

My machine is a Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, running an english Win XP Pro SP2, if that matters.
1. Other Ulead/InterVideo software currently installed:
Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 (upgrade downloaded via the net).
UleadAlbum (Pals2Go). A very old image editor as far as I remember. I haven't used it for years, but I still haven't uninstalled it.
2. Other software that has been installed on the machine:
Ulead VideoStudio 6 SE (came bundled with a firewire card).
Ulead VideoStudio 7 (boxed retail version).
Ulead VideoStudio 8 (upgrade downloaded via the net).
Ulead COOL 3D 3.0
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2
Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0 Trial
The registry also have the following entries, that may be related:
Ulead UDF Driver
InterVideo StillCapture
InterVideo MediaCenter
I hope this helps.
Best regards, Mikael.

I had this problem when installing the ESD version of VS11+ recently.
To overcome the problem, this is what I did:-
1)deleted the VS 11 folder that was created in the first install attempt
2)edited info.ini and changed AVControlSDK=1 to 0
3)ran setup
4)ran utilities\AVControlSDK\AVControl.exe
The install then worked OK except that during the running of AVControl.exe I received a message that DispSvr.dll and IVIVIDEO.ax were missing, but when I checked, both files were in their correct folder.
VS11+ seems to work OK.
Other ULead/Intervideo software installed:
VideoStudio 9
VideoStudio 10+
PhotoImpact12
Cool3D
Previously installed but uninstalled some months before loading VS11+:
PhotoImpact 10 (trial)

files did not register
I was having the same issues as others installing video studio 11 and having a fatal error. I installed manually as suggested but when installing the AVcontrolSDK I get an error of the following:
Files did not self register
Program Files\Common Files\Intervideo\Common\Bin\Dispsvr.dll
Specified module could not be found
Program Files\Common Files\Intervideo\Common\Bin\IVIVIDEO.ax\
Specified module could not be found
I am unable to capture video or use the part of the program tto make menu's etc.
I am using Windows XP sp2. I also have Video Studio 9 installed.
Your help is appreciated!

Hi sjj1805
I suspect you are on the right track here, as I had the fatal error on a machine which had previously had VS8 installed, but didn't on a brand new notebook.
So the answers are:
1) Only VS11 following the workaround I described on the other thread:
Copying the install files onto my hard drive
Editing info.ini, changing AVControlSDK=1 to 0
Running setup from the hard drive
Running utilities > AVControlSDK > AVControl.exe from the hard drive
2) VS8

For the ongoing investigation into this problem, I have performed a reinstall of VS11+ on my XP machine (where this problem happens). All while Process Monitor has recorded every activity during the install. This has resulted in a huge comma-separated file, which luckily enough could be zipped down to a much smaller size.
If you can use it in the investigation, which I think as it contains a LOT of information, including a couple of non-zero exit codes from invoked threads, then you are very welcome to download it from here:
http://www.ejberg.dk/temp/vs11-failed-installation.zip
And before any freeloaders get funny ideas: I have already removed my serial number from the data.

I have received the following email from Ulead.
Dear global support team,
As you know users encounter a bug regarding installation error of UVS11 and DMF6. During installation they suddenly got the error message "A fatal error has occurred during installation". after the message "AVControl SDK will be installed". Every known solution in that case won't change a thing.
The patch for this bug was ready yesterday, please send the attached file or this link to user.
ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/VideoSt ... pgrade.exe
The steps are listed as following,
1. Remove manually the UVS/DMF files/folder under Program Files or where they installed by themselves.
2. Update the patch ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/VideoSt ... pgrade.exe
3. Install UVS/DMF again.
Please give me any feedback of users, if it runs ok, I will require web team to create webpage for this patch.

The patch does not run on my old PC (which is the one that had the install problems). Instead it comes with this error:

This makes sense I guess, as I never had WinDVD installed on that PC.
However, if this patch works for the rest of you, then don't let my negative result hold you back. This is on an older PC, which I recently passed on to my mother, and at the same time cleaned out a lot of installed software. So this PC is no longer to be considered the same as when the installation problems were first discovered.
I can still make some tests on this PC from time to time, just not as fast as if I still had it at my place.
