When I download compatible Video Studio 10 + movie formats from the webb, and use them in in VS to edit and cut, it works just fine to save.
And since VS10+ do not support avi files, i have to convert them first. But when i convert the avi file to wmv, or any other format, to use in VS and save, it just freeze up and dont work. So i have to quit the program.
So my question is why I cannot save the files I have converted in VS10+ when I can save the files that is not converted?
Im currently using Alive Video Converter, and its not working. Would it maybe work better with another converter.
I tried to use all the options in the converter program. I even sett all the options to minimum, so it was worse then the files I could save un-converted.
Well, I would really appriciate any help. Becous this problem is bugging me.
Problem with Saving the project.

First, I don't know where you got the idea that VS10+ cannot handle .avi files. It can handle uncompressed .avi (about 65GB per hour); DV/AVI (about 13 GB per hour); and other forms of .avi such as DivX and XVid which are really highly compressed videos like mpeg-4 but which use .avi as their extension. I suspect you may be talking about the latter, but you need to give us a lot more information.
Start off by right clicking on one of these problem files and copy down ALL its Properties here, please.
You also need to give us a lot more detail on exactly what you are doing to these files, step by step, and exactly what you mean when you say you try to 'save' them.
However, those highly compressed .avis do cause problems when editing. They are not really meant to be edited, but really only to be shown. And of course you have to have the appropriate codecs on your computer. So you are probably doing the correct thing by converting them first. But what format are you converting them to?
Please also tell us something about your computer and operating system.
An alternative conversion program which a few of us on this Board use successfully is called SUPER and it can be found at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Well when I try to add avi files in VS10+ it says: ".avi is not acessible"
Becous of this frequent error when trying to add avi files, I got the tought that VS is not avi compatible.
After converting from AVI to WMV:
This result belov was the highest quality of all conversions i made, but no one worked to save after cutting, not even those with lower qualites in all aspects.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sound
608 x 336
704 kbit/s
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Soundsample: 48khz
Video
Datahastighet = in english? 494 kbit/s
Videosampling 24 bits
Streamname video 1
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I think this is about it.
There are no problems in cutting the files, and in edditing the files. The problems comes when im going to save them, then the program littarly freezes to death.
VS starts the saving process (WMV POCKET PC 320x240 15, fps) up to about 7% or a little more. Then the program stops to respond.
I did try to save the file with video option MPEG to, but same error accured.
And by the way, should not all the necessary codecs follow with the program? Should the buyers need to worry about codecs?
Windows XP Home edition Service Pack 2

NVIDIA GeForce 6800
I really hope you can help me Ken Berry. And thx for you reply.

All im doing with the files is add them to VS10+ and then cut them down under 10 minutes, so I can uppload on YouTube. You also need to give us a lot more detail on exactly what you are doing to these files, step by step, and exactly what you mean when you say you try to 'save' them.

Yes I understand that now, but avi files never show in VS for meHowever, those highly compressed .avis do cause problems when editing. They are not really meant to be edited, but really only to be shown.
I dont think i have a Codec issue, becous it works perfectly fine to save with UN-converted files. And of course you have to have the appropriate codecs on your computer.
