Insert a black color in between your video clips. Put your text during the black. To insert a black color (or any other) select "Color" from the library manager drop-down, just right of the top right corner of the preview window. You can adjust the duration as you wish.

Here is how:

Drag and drop the video clips you are going to use into the time line. From the library, choose "Color" from the drop down menu. Choose the color you want, then drag-and-drop it between the clips you wanted to have a "blank space". Click on the color clip and if you hover your mouse at one of the side of the color clip, the pointer will turn into a 2-way arrow, this means that you can drag the clip to expand/retract its time. Pull it outward and at the Project Duration, you will see how long the color clip will be shown.

Now choose "Title" at the library pull down menu, drag and drop your choice at the timeline and place it below the color clip.

Title frame customizing

Post by Smokey »

I have been having trouble getting a title to preview when I use a colour backing (let's say black) and rolling a title in the text/title track. I assumed that once my custom title is entered, and I have placed a colour backing in the video frame, that I could roll the video in frame mode or timeline mode and see the whole thing play out. The only way I can get a preview is to select the title track and play it in the preview window. Is this the way it is supposed to be??? Other software has always allowed me to preview the edited movie in any mode showing the completed results. My efforts to run the movie from frame mode in edit do not allow a preview of the title track. I have just downloaded the software and have not dubbed in the music track yet, so I will have to hope that I will be able to at least play the movie in EDIT and have the accompanying audio tracks play along with the frame by frame pics.....
Anyone out there have any comment?

in the preview screen, right beside (to the left) of the navigation buttons (play, home, previous, next, etc) are two options. one is "project", the other is "clip". make sure you select "project" instead of "clip" so that the whole project with the titles, overlays and music would play in the preview mode.
