PI7 under Vista?

Post by JensMahlmann »

Hi,

is there any way (or workaround) making it possible to run PI7 under Vista?

I've tried it: The program actually does install and start, but won't work properly then ...

To me, 7 has always been the "gold version", and I've been missing it ever since installing Vista.

Thanks Jens

I think you are out of luck.
If you check the Corel Knowledge base

It only lists PhotoImpact 10 / 11 & 12
PhotoImpact 7 will be considered an out of date product.

PhotoImpact 10 doesn't run on Vista and since PhotoImpact 7 was not intended to run on Vista primarily because it was made years ago, when isn't available yet -- it won't. Maybe it installed because the components it need can be found at vista, but it isn't supposed to happen.

I you think PhotoImpact will do a lot of help to you, then why not invest on PI12 perhaps?

Try running it in compatibility mode or create a dual boot system with XP as the second OS.

Got 12!

@robruiz: Actually, I do have PI12. It's just I liked PI7 much more - if only because it was much faster (and more stable, too)!

@heinz-oz: I have tried compatibility mode, but it didn't help running the prog.

Too bad Jens, blame VISTA, not PI. Pi 7 is a very old version and no longer supported with update patches etc. Try a dual boot set-up with WIN XP on the second boot. It should work in that.
