Please support BDMV again.

Post by Stas »

Hi,

Can you please add support again for creating BDMV Blu-ray discs with DVD MovieFactory.

You already had it in the very first version of DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus, but then you pulled it for some reason, apparently because the standards were not settled yet. Now according to www.blu-raydisc.info all standards are in place.

So can we expect DVD MovieFactory to support BDMV disc authoring with the release of Service Pack or we will have to wait for version 7 or you have no plans at all to re-introduce it?

Also, how good was BDMV implementation in the first version of DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus? Can I use it to create BDMV discs if I really need to?

Cheers.

The original release of MF5 had this feature, I couldn't get it to work for playback although the actual files when viewed could be played back. They appeared to be written in the TS (transport stream) format and on the BD had an extension of .m2ts.
MF5 & MF6+ now cam write the BDAV format which is similar to a dvd recorders -VR mode which uses playlists.
They seemed to have pulled the BD burners from our local stores, can only get one purchasing via the web now.

I think one of the problems is not many persons have these burners and the disks are expensive. Seems like the dvd format and dvd's themselves will be around for quite sometime. There is software now that you can use to create avchd disks on standard dvd's. The avchd disks can put descent HD quality on a single layer dvd (converting hd-mpeg2 to avchd format) or using the avchd cam files directly.

I'm hoping that the next version of MF will have this feature of creating an avchd disk.
