Hi,
New to the board....have spent some time going through previous posts but cant find an answer for the problem I am having. Also, last week I also called and email Corel support but no response yet.
I was using VS10 on my PC which was running XP, and my PC died (unrelated to problem). So I bought a new PC preloaded with Vista Home Premium.
When I try to install, I get an error telling me VS10 is not compatible with Vista.
Even when I adjust the display properties and try to install in XP mode on vista (as read elsewhere) , then the Ulead application tells me to read the file on the CD for instructions, and stops the install. The problem is I bought via download on the web so I dont know what the file on the CD is !
The net/net is I cant get even a non functional install to occur. So I could then apply the patch and hopefully get the product to work.
Question 1: What can I do to get VS10 to fresh install on my windows vista PC (which didnt have VS10 installed previously)?
Question 2: I have already ordered for download (but not been sent the links or details ) the upgrade to 11, but my concern is that 11 may need a previous install of 10 to upgrade successfully, which I dont have. Does anyone know if this is the case ?
(BTW, I also couldnt get the online store to accept my order so placed it over the phone but it has taken days for them to process the order... I never had these problems with Ulead prior to Corel)
Thanks to all who can shed any light on this problem which has me perplexed. Apologies also if this has been addressed elsewhere , and if you could be kind to point me in the right direction it would be great.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,
I guess the short story is that you wont need the 10 installed when you get 11. All you will need is the License key number from 10 and the 11 will (should?) install. You will (should?) get a prompt for that.
As far as the 10 not installing successfully on Vista so that it can proceed to fail under that op system I don't know. There is a Vista patch for 10 but that is a bit pointless if you cant even get the non-functioning 10 to install!

You don't say whether your version of VS10 is on CD or on your HDD. Either way, try right-clicking on the Setup.exe file (if on a CD, simply open the disc in Vista's 'Computer' module), and choose Install as Administrator. You might already be logged on as Administrator, but in the ultra careful way Vista has of double checking all these things, some programs can only be successfully installed if you tell it you are indeed the Administrator...
If it goes through the motions of installing, you will probably then get a dialogue box at the end of it from Vista asking whether you believe it was correctly installed, or whether it should be reinstalled 'the recommended way' (I don't recall the exact wording but it is something along those lines). In such cases, I have then reinstalled the recommended way...

Thanks Ken.
Ken
Thanks for the reply and help. Ulead sent me a link to new version of 10 called ESD which was meant to work under Vista but didnt.
However, I also got the purchase through on VS 11 which I downloaded and it is working beautifully, so all is well that ends well.
Thanks to the kind people on this board for their help and support.
cheers
