My VS Wish List

Post by jimswinder »

1. To be able to split audio from an entire video and then still be able to split by scene

2. Be able to use the "Multi-Trim Video" in any overlay track

3. Be able to "anchor" a scene on the main video track (so they don't all have to butt up to one another...ability to leave spaces

4. Be able to "Split Audio" even if the playback speed has been changed

5. Be able to "Drag" or put the "Split Audio" back into the video track

6. Be able to "recognize" and work with the new iPod m4v files

7. Be able to change the "default" setting of the "Video Input" (Under "Capture") so it does not always default back to "Video Tuner" whenever you do something

8. When you are in "Edit" mode and you have selected a "Video" file you have created in your video library (I.E. "Video - Animals"), and you switch to "Overlay" mode...when you go back to "Edit" mode your "Video" thumbnails have defaulted back to "Video". Would be nice to have it STAY at the "Video - Animals" thumbnails. Same thing with the "Audio", "Image" and "Title" libraries also

Guess that is it for now...till I get more adept at VS!!

1. To be able to split audio from an entire video and then still be able to split by scene
You can. Just "unmute" the video track first.

2. Be able to use the "Multi-Trim Video" in any overlay track
The overlay tracks are not very functional (can't add transitions, can't use Multi-Trim, etc.).

3. Be able to "anchor" a scene on the main video track (so they don't all have to butt up to one another...ability to leave spaces
As a workaround you could put color blocks (the same color as you have set for your background color in Preferences) between the clips.

4. Be able to "Split Audio" even if the playback speed has been changed

5. Be able to "Drag" or put the "Split Audio" back into the video track
Just "unmute" the video track.

6. Be able to "recognize" and work with the new iPod m4v files

Thanks for the response...

1. I usally add another full music track to the video, so I am just using the original audio to sync to the new one...so sometimes aftrer I split it, I need to put it back to recheck it.

3. That is what I have been doing...but sooner or later you have to remove the color blocks, and everything to the right moves. It would just be several less steps if you could anchor it.

5. See Number 1. I guess I should should mute all the audio until I am done with my project and then delete all the audio tracks...but a lot of times I am adjusting the playback speed also.

All splitting the audio does is mute it on the video track and places a copy on the audio track. The audio is still on the video track, only muted.

Why do you eventually have to remove the color blocks? What difference would it be if you have color blocks in there or just the background color of the track itself?

Really? Didn't know that. But isn't there an option I saw somewhere where, when you render it, that you can choose NOT to render the audio? If it is in fact just muted, wouldn't it be there when you render it?

I guess in my mind I will get a "cleaner" render if all my video clips are on the main track and not on the overlay tracks. Sounds like I have been doing a lot of cutting and pasting for nothing, huh? That's what I like about this forum...live and learn. :P

I don't understand. What would be there when you rendered it, the audio? If your clip is muted, and you render it, then there is no sound in the rendered clip.

You don't even have to use the main video track. Actually, when you think about it, the video tracks in VS are in reverse order. The main track should be on the bottom, with each successive overlay track on top. "Overlay" being the key word. Those tracks are laying over the track under it.
