Are you trying to capture DV which is on a mini-DV camera, or are you using your mini DV camera as a pass-through device to capture in DV format from an analogue source? If the latter, then VS11 has a bug which does not allow it to capture any analogue source material, whether from a DV capture device, a mini DV camera used as pass-through, or (in my case) a Sony Digital 8 camera connected via Firewire, but loaded with an analogue 8mm tape. Ulead is currently working on a patch for this which hopefully appear soon.
Regarding changing the capture plug-in, frankly, I don't know why Corel/Ulead even bothered including that command in VS11. In previous versions you could of course actually change the capture plug-in from, say, DV capture to mpeg-2 capture. However, in VS11, the manufacturers for some very silly reason have substituted all the previous codecs, which worked, with an InterVideo IVI capture module, which seems to be the source of the current bug. So forget even trying to change the capture module -- you can't!

I just want to put the content of a mini-dv from my camera to the disk !
I think it is one of the main function the software must do; I have tried with an old media studio pro 8 version (a try and buy version) and it works !
I want to test this software before buying, but it seems than it doesn't work as well we want ...
Must I select an other supplier ? This soft has good notation into some magazine: is-it an agreement between ulead and magazine or a real evaluation of the software ???
What is your opinion ? What'a about my problem
Thank

I have a Canon MV 960i and I can capture in DV format just fine from it using VS11+ (except when trying to use the camera as a pass-through device).
Can you confirm you are trying to capture in DV format. I know you are capturing from a DV device, but are you trying to capture in the same format or, for example, to DVD format?
You have also not told us anything about your computer set-up. VS11 is very demanding of computer resources, in my view, so if you don't have much RAM, for instance, you might find some of VS11's processes slow down. I initially tried capturing in VS11 on a computer running Vista Home Premium (which also uses a lot of computer resources in its own right), but I only had 1 GB of RAM. Capture was very poor -- lots of dropped frames, jerky -- though at least it captured. WinDV worked. When I upgraded the RAM to 2 GB, capture was fine with VS11 also.
So you also have to make sure all unnecessary background programs are not running, and that includes anti-virus (so disconnect from the internet). And make sure your hard disk is regularly defragmented.

I am running into a very similar problem.
Trying to capture digital videos with VS11 plus from my mini-DVs recorded with a Canon MV900 camcorder and once I try it I receive the following Microsoft error message (translated from german
:
VS11 does do not work properly - do you wish to search online for a solution. (If I do so, nothing happens
The problem details are:
AppName: vstudio.exe AppVersion: 11.0.0.0
Errormodule: MSVCR80.dll ModVer: 8.0.50727.762 Offset: 00014604 Code c000000d
My PC is a releative new multimedia pc, therefore I would assume, that I do not have hardware limitations:
Intel ViiV-Technology 2 Duo processor (2,4 GHz), 4 GB RAM, 300GB SATA Hard Disk, nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphic card, IEEE1394 PCI-Card, Vista Home Premium
Capturing via Roxio software works fine without any problems.
Can somebody help?

I have exactly the same problem with a Cannon Optura 600 when running under either Windows XP or Windows Vista Ultimate. VS10 and other video capture programs like Windows Movie Maker work fine for capture on either XP or Vista. The ticket that I opened with Corel has produced no useful results. The person who answered the ticket even suggested I read the camera's manual or use some other capture software!
Grrr.

Has anyone been able to solve this? I have the same problem using a Canon ZR850. Application crashes everytime I click on Capture Video from the Capture tab. This will happen even if the camera is not connected.
The same error occurs in MovieFactory 6 Plus.
Windows Moviemaker works fine as did Video Studio 7.
I have VS 11 Plus with the latest patch installed (not the Hotfix) and have also upgraded DirectX with the Nov 2007 release.
Thanks
