vs11 crashes when I try to delete thumbnails

Post by confused user »

When I try to delete thumbnails of files that are corrupted VS11 crashes. Is there a workaround or do I have to leave the thumbnails in the library? I can't even click the thumbnail without the crash occurring.

I solved the problem

I deleted the corrupted file from my computer and then the thumbnail was able to be removed.

What was the corrupted file?

I ask in case someone else has a similar problem and your solution might help them too.

Thanks

corrupted file

Maybe that's not the correct term, but when I tried to import a dvd+r dl made on a video converter, the second layer imported fine and the first layer looks like it imported and then won't play. I remade the dvd and tried again and the same thing happens. I'm going to try to import a different dvd+r dl and see if it occurs.

not sure anymore

I had no problem with the next dual layer dvd, so I'm going to assume the file size was too large and the file wasn't corrupt. Is there a file size limit for importing into vs11, and where would I find out the info.

No there isn't a limit - unless you are using a FAT 32 Hard Drive in which case the Operating system imposes a 4GB file size limit. You should be using a NTFS hard drive.

A dual layer DVD contains up to about 9GB of data.
A typical 1 hour DV file from your digital camcorder contains about 13 GB.

files size must be the problem

I can put in most file sizes but when I capture or add a video that's 8 gig my computer or the program freezes. Using 4 or 5 gig does not cause the problem.
