Hi,
just as VS 10+ is about to finish rendering about 3.1 GBs of Avi-files I get the following error code: 533:-2147216479:0. I never get to the actual burning of the DVD. Since I'm using a German version of VS 10+ I only can give you an approximate translation of the accompanying message: "The first chapter must show the beginning of a title". (Whatever that means!)
I also have Pinnacle Impression, Pinnacle Studio v10, Clone DVD and Adobe Premiere Elements installed on my computer.
The Avi-files that I've been processing were originally edited and rendered in Pinnacle Studio 10. But since Pinnacle has such an atrocious menue generator, I decided to by Video Studio two days ago. So that's where I'm at right now. Everything has been going just fine up to the last percent of the rendering process.
These are my project settings:
MPEG-Dateien
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Bild-basiert
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Videodatenrate: Variabel (Max. 4000 kbps)
Audiodatenrate: 256 kbps
Dolby-Digital-Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
I'd be very greatful for a swift response here, since this is a project that I need to finish for my customers by mid-week.
Thanks in advance

Can you please clarify one point: when is this rendering of your AVIs taking place? For instance, do you first convert the project (as we recommend) to DVD compatible mpeg-2: Share > Create Video File > DVD?
Once you have your mpeg-2, you should save your project, then open a new one. Don't worry about a name for it -- the objective is just to clear the timeline.
Then you go to Share > Create Disc, insert your new mpeg-2 into the burning timeline, make your menu and burn. Also, make sure 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. You should not have to adjust any of the properties in the burn module.
I suspect you are instead inserting your AVIs directly into the burning module so that the conversion is taking place during the burning process (even though you never get to the actual burning). Too many errors arise that way, which I why we recommend the workflow I outlined above.
You also don't tell us exactly what sort of menu you set up. But you might, for example, have ticked the box which indicates that the inserted video is to be used as first video and appear before the menu. If so, and there was no further video to follow the menu, you might get the sort of message you have translated for us...
I assume you also realise that 3.1GB of AVI will only produce around 600 MB of mpeg-2 -- in other words, less than 15% of a DVD. Some programs, including still, I think, VS, do not like burning less than 1 GB to a DVD and so will have to pad out a smaller file. Having to do this, at the same time as the conversion to mpeg-2, the conversion of the menu to video, the multiplexing of the video and audio, and the actual burning, might be another reason why the program hangs.

Hello again,
first of all thanks for the quick reply. I can answer your two questions quickly.
1.) I didn't convert the project to mpeg-2 first because I supposed that this was part of the conversion and rendering process.
2.) I did not tick the box that that makes the inserted video run as first video before the menue.
The 3.1GBs of Avi-files consists of 6 seperate files with each one being clickable in the menue.
You didn't elaborate on the meaning of the aforementioned error code 533:-2147216479:0. That just might be the clincher.
Thank you

I am afraid that none of us here work for Corel/Ulead, so we have no idea what all those error codes mean. I have a (short) list of other error codes reported here on a regular basis and what problem they are normally associated with, but the code you received (or at least your translation of the associated error message) is not one I recall seeing before (and I have been on this Board for about 5 years).
If you want the six files each to have a separate button, you can still use the method I outlined of first rendering to mpeg-2 even before you open the burning module. You can either join them all together into one mpeg-2, then when you insert that into the burning module, insert chapter points where each of the six videos originally began. (However, that normally would mean that there is only one button on the main menu page, and six chapter buttons on the Chapter sub-menu).
Or you could render each AVI separately into an individual mpeg-2. Then when you have finished all of them, open the burning module and insert the new mpeg-2s into the burning timeline. That way you would have six separate buttons on the main menu.
You might still potentially face some difficulties, though, since the total size of the mpeg-2s will still be well under 1 GB...

In converting them, you can use the highest quality settings -- in other words a bitrate of 8000 kbps, and even LPCM audio, which is the highest quality audio format, though it produces a large file. But size is not a problem with your project (except that it might possibly be too small!!
) And of course make sure it is Lower Field First as that is the field order of your DV/AVI original video.
