Can't import DVD - VideoStudio 11

Post by FireAndy01 »

"Ulead Videostudio Movie Wizard - Vstudio.exe application error - An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction (0xc000001d occurred in the application at location 0x129c0ae6"

I get this error when I try to import PAL DVD from DVD-ROM or hard disk (I used Magic DVD copier to put it there)

If I click on OK it mentions location 0x0f0e0ae6 and then shuts the whole program down.

Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3.5 will import from both sources with no problems but isn't advanced enough for me to work with

Nero imports but isn't as good quality & is also too simple

I've seen posts from other people with similar problems but a different error code.

I've re-installed the software twice (& why is it so unbelievably slow to uninstall???)

Loading K-LITE full codec pack didn't make any difference.

Running Registry Doctor made no difference

I'm out of ideas & about to give up - I'd appreciate some help.

Cheers, Andy

I'm new to Ulead..but if you have already imported the DVD onto the hard drive why try and import it again. Wouldn't you just Start a New Project and add that file on your hard drive to the video Folder and start editing?

I hope I haven't mis-understood your question.

Andy,

I don't know how to go about getting rid of all the stuff that the Klite Codec pack may have installed on your PC, but those are just packages asking to cause problems. Codec packs have a bunch of codecs thrown together that may not get along with each other, not to mention what you already have on your system.

I don't know anything about Magic DVD Copier, so not going to comment on it. However have you tried to just copy/paste or drag the Video_TS folder to your hard drive? Then import DVD folders?

Wow - didn't expect such a fast response - thanks guys!

I couldn't import before I installed the k-lite pack & I've since uninstalled it & system restored so shouldn't be an issue

I can copy the Video_TS file to hard disk (with all its files including VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01_2.VOB) although I can't use COPY/PASTE as my system won't let me EXPLORE the disk for some reason. That's why I used Magic DVD copier but the end result is the same, I think.

But neither Movie Wizard nor Video Studio will IMPORT the file. I've tried COPY/PASTING it into several likely files within the Video Studio folder but when I try to edit them I get the error "FILE FORMAT MISMATCH" so clearly the IMPORT function does something extra to the file.

I think I remember a post telling someone to change the name .VOB to .MPG. How do I do that (& would it help???).

Cheers, Andy

Also, is there a way of COPY/PASTING the TS file from DVD without being able to EXPLORE it?

You just open My Computer or Windows Explorer, find the VOB file, right click and choose Rename. Change the extension from .vob to .mpg This usually works.

Thanks Ken,

I already tried that - it does change the file name but not the type of file (.VOM is not actually displayed as part of the original file name - I just know it is from looking at it with a different program)

Doing this makes VisionStudio unable to read the file at all.

Thanks anyway, Andy
