Hi,
I'm using Ulead's MovieFactory 3 SE to convert mpegs to a DVD ISO file. It's been working fine until today, when I noticed my hard drive was running out of space. I was a little puzzled as to why (I've always deleted the ISOs and mpegs after burning them), then noticed that Ulead keeps a "scratch folder" where it appears to copy the mpegs before converting them. It doesn't delete them it seems, because there are files in the folder that are over a month old.
I figured I'd clean up a little, so I removed some of the older mpegs-- not all of them. Now, when I try creating a new dvd, using new mpegs, the program takes forever to convert the files. Instead of 30 minutes on a 3 GB mpeg it'll take maybe eight hours. I don't know the exact time because I quit before 15% through.
Has anyone seen this before, and short of uninstalling/reinstalling the program, is there a way to fix the problem?
Hey, thanks.

COmputer Specs?
What are your computer specs? (processor type/speed, ram, OS, etc...)
What type of source videos are you using? Are they compliant for the type of disc you are creating? If they are not compliant, DMF will need to encode them for the type of disc you are creating. The amount of time to encode will depend on your computer power, the length of your video, and how well optimized your system is.
if you think they are already compliant, then make sure you check the box that says "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" in the project template setup (this will bypass any re-encoding, and use your videos "asis").

Thanks for replying-- I own an Athlon64 3000, 1 GB DDR 400 Ram, WinXP SP2. I have an 80 GB SATA drive, 8.5 ms access time.

I'm using mpeg2 files, created via Hauppauge's WinTV2000 program. These have never given MovieFactory any trouble before.
In brief: things have been fine in Ulead--Hauppauge world until I deleted those old mpegs in the MovieFactory "scratch folder". I've converted files larger than these in under half an hour usually. Same settings as I have now. The "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" template checkbox has been marked all along.

im doing the same type things and have an identical puter and when i do 50 minutes of video it coverts and takes 3hrs to burn it then in the MFtemp file have a video named convert which is my edited and burned video and i still have the raw file which i originally recorded left in the destination folder,
i have yet to be able to burn directly to disc getting all these pop up messages telling me to do things which are already done as settings!! does this sound normal!!

In DVDMF4 you will have a button Delete temporary files in the working folder in the Finish step of the Create Video Disc module.
In earlier versions you have to delete them by yourself.

I've just started using DMF3 (came with a capture device) and the first DVD I made took many hours to do. Probably at least 3-4+ hours from the time I got to the hands off part and when it finished writing the DVD. I'm not sure if that's normal or not....

I did download the updates but after I did my first test burn. I'll try it again this weekend when I have time to play with it some more.Chief Monkey wrote:kelemvor,
