Hi, I'm doing a video and haven't got off to the best of starts. Basically, in the opening minute, I just want occassional text and music. This is the easy part. I enter my soundtrack and enter text at the places I want it...simple When it gets to the part I want to start my video though I'm having trouble. When I try to enter a video clip it will only let me put it at the beginning of the video, where as I want it to start from the minute mark. How do I overcome this? Do I need to put a minute of video footage of just blackness? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jamie

In essence, yes that is exactly what you do, though you don't need black video footage. Instead, you just insert a black colour matte image and stretch it out by grabbing the yellow bar at its right end till you reach the one minute mark in the timeline. You can of course use any colour. And the colour matte goes into the main timeline before your first video.
The colour mattes can be found by clicking on the drop-down arrow which appears in the little window in top centre of screen, just below the main tabs. By default it usually has the word Video in it. But it is the same drop-down menu where you will find Filters, Transitions etc. What you are after says simply 'Colour', I think (sorry the computer I am using does not have VS installed -- I am away from home for a few days).
