Greetings,
1.) I have been using VS 8 for a while now with no major problems!! As of now I'm not into HD yet. Would it be a wise move to move up to VS 11 for more effects, etc. ?
2.) Would there be any picture quality loss if I purchase a one chip camera for capturing footage to the computer and just use my 3CCD cameras for shooting, and not use them for playback to save on wear and tear on my video heads. Thanks for your opinions!!

A tutorial by John, may be worth a read.JamesMatt wrote:Greetings,

Thanks for your opinions!! To go Hd you would have to buy a HD camera, unless you already own one.

If you read the some of the posts regarding v11 you will find that many have problems, but some don't. Your best bet is to download the trial and give it a test drive to make sure it works on your system.
As far as the camera is concerned, once it's recorded with the 3-chip camera it will not lose any quality when transferred to the pc with a 1-chip camera, especially if you are using firewire, which you should.
If you are, in fact, making the move to HD then the advice given by Trevor is quite true.

Thank You Jeff & Trevor! That was the answer I was looking for. I DO USE a FIREWIRE cable to transfer the footage from the camcorder to the computer. I just do not want to put extra wear & tear on my 3CCD camera heads for playback & I did not want to lose picture quality using a one chip camera for capturing!
I AM NOT making the move to HD right now. Thank You Very Much!
(Note: Cameras using right now is Sony VX 2000 & Canon GL2 and
I will be given more thought to VS 11.)
Thanks Again!!!!
