Can Ulead Video studio be transfered to another computer??

Post by ablinkvboxa »

Hi everyone.

I had a look around and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I was wondering if Ulead Video studio can be transfered onto another computer (laptop) because I have had the program for a while now and would really like to know if I can somehow put it onto a disk and put it onto my new laptop. Because I don't have the money right now to buy it all over again. :/

Thanks.

wait hang on..

um I found the e-mails that I received upon buying it.

So would that same link (the one to download the program) work if I wrote it down on a piece of paper and copied it into the address bar of my new computer????

Sorry i'm still a little confused.

When you purchased the ESD, did you burn the files to CD? You should always do so, in the event of a crash, requiring you reformat your HDD, you would not loose your program.

Do you still have the install files on your System? If so, burn them to a CD or DVD, then you can use it to reinstall/install. If not, then there is no way to just transfer it to another computer.

Edit

If you still have the emails, then certainly try to download the files again. This time, like I stated above, First burn them to a CD or DVD. If not then you will need to contact Element5 to see if you can get fresh download links. What version of VS are you asking about? You might be in luck if it is VS10 or maybe VS9. However I believe that if it is an older version, they will not be able to provide it.

I have UVS 10.

With the burning of the files.. which ones do I burn??

Like do I just go to-

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10

and burn that whole ONE folder... or do I go into the folder containing the things like afcomponents, aft_plug, AudioQuality (eg. of folders)
and all the werid .DLL files???

**sorry i'm very new to burning programs :/ **

Sorry for any inconvenience.

I'm very much planning to buy the movie recent .11 version..but right now I really need something to tie me over until then.

thanks for all your help so far though.

What the other posters are trying to get you to understand is that you cannot copy all the many, many files that have been spread all over your system when you INSTALLED VS 10 originally.

What they are referring to are the three big files that you downloaded when you purchased VS 10. They are the installation files and once downloaded should be copied to a back up CD or at least a back up location on your hard drive. If you have those three original files somewhere all you have to do is burn them to a CD, load the CD in the new computer, run the installation executable file and you are away!

These should be the names of the original files.

vs10_plus_e.exe
vs10_contentpack_e.exe
vs10_bonus.exe

Of course you have already copied your Licence Key number to a safe place haven't you?
