MSP8 problem with calling up Direct Show

I've been trialling MSP8 using DV footage, but I keep getting a problem on preview play as follows:

Failed to use DirectShow video engine. Colnitialize has not been called.
Number on mssg box: 13102:2:1

I'm wondering if this a problem fixed in the latest service pack, but not
included in the trial version?

My system is laptop P4-2.4mHz 1GB memory, Win XP service pack 2.
