What's the name of this video tape capture transfer device?
I have a digital video camcorder Sony HDR Fx1. I transfer (capture) alot of video tape (MiniDV) to my computer harddrive for editing in VS 11 and believe it is wearing out the drive (heads) in my camera. Is there an inexpensive machine I can use instead of my camera to transfer the tape to computer? I only want this machine do this one purpose.

Video Playback Stand Alone
I have a unit just to play Video from my camera's tapes - but it is old and only plays my old analog video. I now do everything in digital video.
I have two suggestions, call Sony to see if they have a player only (with video output) anymore. And/or google for this.
My friend purchased an analog camera on sale/clearance to do just this and we share it, because my digital player/viewer/downloader spring popped and no longer works.
Just some ideas. Hope this helps.
